Our Story

We had always envisioned establishing a dental practice together whilst studying at Dental School. After completion of our undergraduate training, we gained invaluable experience working in numerous government and private hospitals/practices in Kenya over several years. In 2011, what we had conceptualised finally became a reality when we set up “The Regency Dental Practice”.

Over the years, the practice has grown considerably with consistent upgrades in techniques and equipment used. We have visiting specialists in orthodontics and implant dentistry.

We continue to update our knowledge and skills through Continuous Professional Development seminars, conferences and courses.

In addition to private practice, dental Health drives at school and community level have always been close to our hearts and we continuously strive to enforce preventive dentistry through education.

We also play an active role in the Kenya Dental Association National Executive Council.

Dr. Mitul Vasani and Dr. Adnan Zavery.

What We Do

“We Offer The Latest Dental Solutions To Suit Everyone.”

Cosmetic Dentistry

This service allows you to fully take charge of your overall appearance. By providing dental procedures that offer suitable enhancement and corrective options, you go on in life with an award-winning smile.

  • Whitening
Don’t let teeth stains and discolouration from excessive consumption of tea and coffee, smoking of cigarettes and the use of certain medication (etc.), be the reason to keep you from smiling.
The Regency Dental Practice offers this lasting, safe and quick solution, as a corrective measure that will have you walk away with an impressive, bright smile.
  • Veneers
…Ever wondered how you could get the enviable red carpet “Hollywood Icon” smile? Get Veneers!
These thin porcelain veneers or dental porcelain laminates are tailoured to suit you and to cover the front surface of your teeth, for improved appearance.
  • Bonding
Dental bonding is a procedure in which a tooth-colored resin material durable plastic material) is applied and hardened with a special light, which ultimately "bonds" the material to the tooth to restore or improve a person's smile.

Dental bonding is an option that can be considered:
    • To repair decayed teeth (composite resins are used to
    • To repair chipped or cracked teeth
    • To improve the appearance of discoloured teeth
    • To close spaces between teeth
    • To make teeth look longer
    • To change the shape of teeth
    • As a cosmetic alternative to amalgam fillings
    • To protect a portion of the tooth's root that has been exposed when gums recede

General & Preventive Dentistry

Oral hygiene is key to your overall well-being and we make sure that all patients’ receive optimum consultation services and oral treatment.

By offering diverse general dentistry services, we effectively get rid of dental problems and associated health complications through a comprehensive check-up and diagnosis including digital x-rays and intra-oral photographs.

  • Dental Check-Ups and X-rays

Most dental problems can be detected on a routine checkup before experiencing any symptoms. Dental problems are often easier (and cheaper!) to treat in their earlier stages. X-rays are routinely taken to examine areas between the teeth and also to investigate specific problems as they allow us to see through the hard tissues of the teeth. We recommend that you book your appointment every six months to avoid complications and to treat any existing problems.

  • Dental Cleaning

The normal dental hygiene routine may not be sufficient enough to achieve the complete dazzle of a smile, (which isn’t a reason to abandon your usual brush & floss routine). Similar to the recommended dental checkup routine, teeth cleaning may also be scheduled after every 6 months, as part of your routine to ensure the best oral hygiene results.

    These include:
    • a) Scaling – this involves removal of the mineralized calculus (tartar) deposits using an ultrasonic machine and/or hand instruments.
    • b) Prophylaxis (polishing) – this strips off the plaque and ‘dental pellicle’ off the teeth and removes surface stains too leaving the teeth smooth and shiny.
  • Education

Knowledge is power. At The Regency Dental Practice we run you through the problems in your mouth as well as teach you how to take of your pearly whites. Dental problems can easily be sorted by maintenance and Oral Health Education is cardinal to ensure that you are armed with the knowledge and skills to keep your teeth and gums healthy.

  • Pit and Fissure Sealants

Many teeth, especially the molars, have naturally occurring fissure systems which are often quite deep. These surfaces are prone to decay as food gets easily lodged in these grooves and toothbrush bristles are too big to clean the areas out effectively. As a preventive measure, these surfaces can be coated with a plastic resin to block the fissures out hence making them less susceptible to decay. This procedure is best done as soon as the teeth emerge into the mouth.

  • Mouthguards

We fabricate mouthguards for sport, in a variety of exciting colours! We also make mouthguards to protect teeth from parafunctional habits such as grinding and clenching.

Restorative Dentistry

  • Fillings

Teeth which have suffered from a cavity or a fracture need to be filled. This is mostly done using a tooth-coloured material known as a resin composite. We still have the facilty to place silver amalgam restorations too but they are increasingly getting less popular due to their appearance and concerns about the mercury content.

  • Crowns

You have the option of getting a temporary or permanent crown, as a cosmetic restoration and/or support alternative. We recommend dental crowns for teeth that are root canal treated, severely discoloured, misshaped/deformed, worn-down or broken.

Rely on the our outstanding expertise for impressive results whenever you have our team restore the shape, size, strength and appearance of your teeth.

  • Root canal (endodontic) Treatment

This a treatment performed when the nerves of a tooth get affected either by a cavity or trauma. This tooth is emptied out of its contents, cleaned and prepared then finally filled.

Tooth Extractions

Sometimes, getting rid of the problem tooth is the only solution…For example, if your tooth is severely decayed or in cases of teeth overcrowding (i.e. Teeth become twisted or displaced because of the lack of space for all teeth to fit normally within the jaws.)

No need to panic… “We Care Enough To Show You How Much” by ensuring your comfort throughout the procedure.

Tooth replacement

“At The Regency Dental Practice, We Have The ‘Missing’ Option.”

You don’t have to go on with the gaps left behind when you lose a tooth due to injury, disease or any other reason. The options one would have can be:

a) Fixed Replacements
  • Dental Implants

At The Regency Dental Practice, we offer comprehensive and professional Implant diagnostics, and treatment that look-n-feel like “real” teeth. Through a small surgical procedure, a titanium implant (screw) is placed into the jawbone in the area of the missing tooth. The area is then stitched up and allowed to heal so that bone forms around the implant which then ‘integrates’ into the bone. After some weeks, a connecting piece known as an abutment is joined to the implant and a final crown can then be placed over this.

  • Bridges

These are fixed replacements comprising of a series of linked crowns supported by natural teeth.

b) Removable Replacements

Dentures are plates which hold artificial teeth and can be worn over and around your existing gum and tooth structures. These can be partial – just to replace a few, or complete - when all teeth are missing. You do also have the option of having these done in Acrylic or Cobalt Chromium bases.

Orthodontics

“BRACE –yourself; Stunning Smiles ahead!”

Ever heard of “buck teeth”? Or seen some ‘poor soul’ with protruding upper or lower teeth…this attracts all the wrong and unwanted attention and can be quite-the-nagging, depressing feature, for the unfortunate person with this dental flaw.

Our team experts offer the right orthodontic treatment solution to match and correct each specific problem for improved appearance, position and function of crooked or abnormally arranged teeth.

The great news is that, at The Regency Dental Practice, We will position and align your teeth to perfection!

Get the right “support” through the following existing options:

  • a) Removable and Fixed appliances.
  • b) Space “Maintainers”.
  • c) Clear Aligners.

Daily Tips

Brush your teeth atleast twice a day

Slide left or right to view more Daily Tips

Proper Brushing

Position the bristles at an angle of 45 degrees such that the gum line and the bristles are in contact, and gently brush the outer surface of the teeth using a back-and-forth, up-and-down motion. Do the same for the inner surface.

Flossing

Flossing helps in removing food particles and other detrimental substances that brushing regularly cannot by allowing you to reach deep between your teeth. We recommend flossing at least once a day.

Limit Sodas, Coffee and Alcohol

These beverages contain a high level of phosphorous, which may drain the body's level of calcium if taken in excess, causing tooth decay, gum disease etc. Instead, use milk since it will strengthen teeth and build stronger enamel.

Consume Calcium and Vitamins

Since calcium is essential for maintaining the health of gums and teeth, drink dairy products or use other calcium supplements. Vitamin B complex is also essential in protecting teeth from cracks and bleeding. Other healthy necessities include Copper, Zinc etc.

Avoid Tobacco

This will save you from oral cancer and periodontal complications. Also, it will save you from the many ill effects caused by the agents (e.g. candies, tea) used to mask the smell of tobacco.

Visit Your Dentist

Visit your dentist at least twice a year to have a full hygiene treatment performed. Also at these appointments, a comprehensive exam is taken with x-rays to help detect and prevent future dental treatments from occurring.

Use Mouthwash

Mouthwashes containing Listerine or chlorine dioxide are very helpful in killing and maintaining mouth bacteria as well as maintaining healthy teeth. Mouthwash is a bonus if you are already brushing, flossing or visiting the dentist.

Having a toothache?

Visit a dentist as soon as you start having tooth and jaw pain. This way, the dentist can find out the cause of it and deal with it before it gets worse.

Look at the Big Picture

Apart from the basic concept of avoiding toothaches, maintain your looks and keep dental bills at bay, oral health is also important in abating diabetes, heart disease, systemic infections etc.

Clean your tongue

Use a professional tongue cleaner to remove countless bacteria that otherwise live, particularly on the rougher top surface of your tongue. These can contribute to bad breath (halitosis) and negatively affect your dental health.
